My Story....

When I was chronically exhausted, I felt like I was missing my life.  

I was spaced out and forgetful.  My kids would occasionally call me the Zombie Mom, because I was so tired I was like the undead.  At work, I was accomplishing considerably less than my capabilities and producing well below my potential.

I felt like I was there but not there.  Physically present, but not mentally present.  I lived in a weepy-tired fog of rushing from event to event without feeling rested.  

I felt like I was failing at all the things that were important to me: 

  • I wanted to be fully engaged with my children, but I didn’t have the energy.
  • I wanted to connected and present with my husband, but I felt so tired.  
  • I wanted to be highly productive at work, but I felt so exhausted and couldn’t focus.
  • I wanted to have a full, fun social life, but I was too tired for activities outside of work and home responsibilities.
  • I wanted to be crushing it at the gym, but there were days I was so fatigued that I couldn’t even finish the workout.  

I was desperate for anything that would help me to not feel so tired ALL THE TIME.

Experts told me things like, “you’re the healthiest patient I have,” and “let’s just put you on an antidepressant,” and, “well, you are getting older,” and “your labs all look normal.”  

I didn’t feel heard and I wasn’t being helped.  

I tried lots of different approaches.  A vegetarian diet.  A shake diet.  Adaptogens.  5 cups of coffee a day.  Pre-workout supplements.  Cleansing and intermittent fasting.  You name it, I probably tried it.  

Some of it helped, but none of these approaches were customized based on what my body uniquely needed.  

I was desperate for anything that would help me to not feel so tired ALL THE TIME.

I was stuck in a frustrating cycle of trial and error.

Then I got my hands on the right lab tests – the kind that don’t just look at the total levels of output of things like cortisol, testosterone, and estrogen, but rather look at how the organs and systems that produce those outputs are actually functioning and interacting with other systems in the body.  

The root-cause investigation of my health issues showed me what was really going on in my body, so that I could give my body what it needed to function optimally.  

Investigation gave me clarity around the right foods for my body’s unique needs, so that food could be a source of energy, not a source of inflammation.  

It showed me what was going on in my gut so that I could heal the issues that were causing my chronic exhaustion.  

It showed me what was causing my hormone imbalance so that I could follow an opt-in model of self-care to balance my body and get my energy back.  

Through the process of investigation and healing, I learned how to tune in to my body, so that at any time, I can feel what I need to be well, feel great, and have energy.  

Now I feel connected and present.  My relationships are fulfilling and meaningful.  I am productive and focused, and rocking the free world.  My worklife is invigorating and satisfying.  I’m crushing my goals at the gym and feel amazing.  

…and when I don’t feel amazing, I know how to listen to my body to get back to feeling amazing.  

I know what questions to ask myself when I’ve added too much to my to-do list, so that I can re-evaluate my priorities and honor my physical, mental, and emotional needs.  

I know how it feels to not have the vitality you need to be present for what is meaningful to you.
