Clean Beauty To Restore!

Yup.  You read that right.

If you’re a high-performing woman who struggles with low energy, the root cause could be the load on your liver from toxins in your personal care products.

I’m working with a client right now who has been chronically exhausted with mood swings and sleep issues. When she came to me, she told me that her primary goal was to, “not feel so tired ALL. THE. TIME.”

With functional lab testing, we learned that she has a hormone imbalance.  We also learned that said hormone imbalance is being caused by a sluggish detoxification system.

Many women don’t realize that the liver metabolizes hormones.

For your hormones to be in balance, your detoxification system needs to be fully functional.

My friends, #CleanBeauty isn’t a nice-to-have.  For your health, your energy, and your ability to feel fully focused and optimally productive, clean beauty is a must-have.

Your Liver Does Amazing Things!

As the body’s filter and protector, the liver is vitally important for immunity and energy production, and arguably the most important organ for supporting physical health.

Here are some of the rad things that the liver does.  It…

  • Cleanses the bloodstream, with its Kuppfer cells acting as the filter
  • Detoxifies the blood, transforming ammonia, metabolic waste, drugs & chemicals, etc., so they can be excreted
  • Clears excess hormones, preventing hormone imbalance
  • Converts sex-hormone precursors into the appropriate sex hormones
  • Metabolizes cortisol, tuning the stress response
  • Produces bile, which breaks down fats
  • Stores glucose in the form of glycogen which is converted back to glucose when the body needs energy
  • Metabolizes carbohydrates, proteins and fats, making food available to the body for energy, tissue building, activating enzymes

…and that’s just to name a few.

The liver filters everything we take in, both by eating and by putting a substance on our skin.

Harmful chemicals, like those found in most lotions, makeup, hair and other personal care products, can cause the liver to become sluggish.

Love Your Liver

So what can you do about it?  Love your liver!  …because your liver loves you!  (As does your whole detoxification system, but that would make for a much longer article!)

clean beauty, clean beauty changed my life

1 – Choose personal care products that are clean. You can find a full list of safe beauty options on the Environmental Working Group’s list of verified products: https://www.ewg.org/ewgverified/

My favorite clean beauty brand is Beautycounter. I don’t sell Beautycounter, but I highly recommend the personal care and makeup products from this certified B Corporation. Beautycounter’s “Never List” includes over 1800 harmful, unsafe, and questionable substances that they vow to never add as ingredients in their products.

See this picture, right here? Everything on my skin is a Beautycounter product: shampoo and conditioner, skincare system, foundation, blush, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick – all clean beauty

products. I bought them from my friend and colleague Beth Merrigan at this link: https://www.beautycounter.com/bethmerrigan. I highly recommend it!

2 – Look for ways to reduce toxic exposure in your environment. Evaluate not just your personal care products but your home care and cleaning products, your tap water, your packaged foods, and your food storage containers.

Clean Beauty → Good Energy

Low energy can be caused by factors in your body, your mind, and your environment.  If you feel tired all the time and feel like you’re missing your life, it could be that a sluggish detoxification system is a culprit.

By choosing clean beauty, you can reduce the toxic load on your body.  You can support your liver’s ability to balance your hormones and give you the energy you need to feel fully present and optimally productive.

Optimal is possible!
